Government crisis in Romaniaauthor: www-data PSD, the Social Democratic Party of Romania, a government coalition party (2nd in power) has quit from government today. Apparently, previous to that, Basescu has signed the revocation from their functions of the vice prime-minister and the minister of internals, basically firing them. PSD left with lines along of "Basescu is responsible for the crysis in the first place, he proposed the firing of 300 people, therefore we leave now." I just popped into the issue, I don't understand the details of why and how, but it seems that Basescu proposed the reducing of the Romanian parilament from 471 to 300, thereby eliminating one chamber, simplifying the law passing process and reducing administration costs. (The Romanian parliament is a two-chamber system right now.) Oh, and by the way, PSD is the party that initiated the motion in 2007 of suspending Basescu from his function as president of Romania.
